Tahiti is serviced by Faa’a International Airport, and is the only international airport in French Polynesia. This airport serves all of the islands within the Tahiti group of island. It is about 5 kilometers from Papeete the capital of Tahiti. Depending on your flight schedules you can usually fly into Papeete then transfer straight onto a flight to your Bora Bora Resorts.

Air Tahiti Nui has bi-weekly flights between Tokyo and Osaka (Japan) to Papeete.If you are travelling from other parts of Asia, the simplest connection is via Sydney, Australia.

Tahiti to Bora Bora

Bora Bora Island is about 230 kilometres (140 miles) north-west Tahiti and is a 50 minute flight from Papeete. Bora Bora is served by Bora Bora Airport on Motu Mete, a northern islet of the main island of Bora Bora. Transferring from the Bora Bora airport to the main island or the many resorts located on the surrounding island smaller is done by boat. All these major resorts have desks at the airport.

If you have accommodation on the main island, you will need to take the (free) ferry to Vaitape the capital of Bora Bora. From there, you can organise your resort to transfer or Air Tahiti operates a free shuttle boat transfer from the airport to the main town.
